When I do that it tells me to connect to my computer, so I do, then when I do that it says ' Do not disconnect' then it flashes for a bit. turns off. then goes back to the way it was before. ?

I did as you said, I thought that it was going to work. It did go into disk mode, popped up in iTunes and said restore to factory? defaults. It did this and a message popped up in iTunes saying that it was restored and my iPod would restart. When it did restart, it went right back to the sad face. Any ideas?

HI, so this is an unresolved problem and I'm hoping that you can help me?! So I have an 80G ipod classic which was working fine last night. Today it made a whirring and a clicking? and stopped working. I tried a reset which didn't do much - I now have it in disk mode but when I plug it in to the computer neither itunes or the computer recognise it. It doesn't appear like it usually does in itunes and it's not visible anywhere as a drive in my computer.Please help my ipod sing in my ears again!!

This is just a question: My iPod classic is about... 3 or 4 years old, and the charger was missing so I couldn't play it over the summer. When I plugged it in when I found the charger? the sad face appeared on the screen.
